How to use this calculator
Enter the full distance you expect to drive, your vehicle’s realistic consumption in litres per 100 kilometres, the fuel price per litre and the number of people sharing. Use a recent measured consumption figure when possible. Include the return journey in the distance if you want a round-trip estimate.
Worked example
A 350 km journey at 6.5 L/100 km needs 22.75 litres. At €1.65 per litre the fuel costs approximately €37.54. Shared equally between two people, that is €18.77 each. The calculator keeps full precision until displaying the result.
Is this the complete cost of driving?
No. It excludes tolls, parking, accommodation, maintenance, insurance and depreciation. Add those separately if you are setting a shared travel budget. This is not an official mileage reimbursement calculation.
Why might the actual fuel bill differ?
Traffic, speed, weather, hills, luggage and driving style affect consumption. Try a higher consumption figure as a second scenario. The displayed fuel price is an example, not a live pump price.
